James McLean
State Representative and Funeral Director James McLean represents what ASU-Mountain Home hopes for all its alumni -- success in his profession at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville with a public servant's heart. "ASUMH absolutely gave me the skills I needed. I was working full time and driving to Mountain Home for classes at ASUMH twice a week and everything about my experience there was wonderful. When I graduated, I was able to get a dual license in funeral directing and embalming." McLean, who received an AAS in Funeral Science in 2000 from ASUMH, currently serves in the Arkansas State Legislature, where he is Vice Chairman of the Arkansas State Game and Fish Commission Oversight Committee and Vice Chairman of the City, County & Local Affairs House Finance Subcommittee. As a freshman legislator, McLean combined his personal knowledge of the role of Arkansas' two-year colleges that he gained as a student at ASUMH and worked relentlessly for the state's two-year colleges on what became the state's new lottery bill. James knows two-year colleges are the answer for many Arkansans and lottery scholarships could be their ticket to success. James is currently a funeral director and embalmer at Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville, AR.
